Baymard Institute Site Enhancements

Baymard Institute uncovers what designs cause usability issues, how to create “State of the Art” user experiences, and measure how your UX performance stacks up against leading e-commerce sites. As a Digital Product Designer it is my duty to make sure our sites are as usable and customer centric as possible, using Baymard as a tool I make sure these guidelines are applied in a way that makes sense for our brand strategy.

Role: Lead UX Designer & Researcher

Teams: Developers, PM, Baymard Audit Representatives

Guideline 488: Display Applied Filters on Desktop in an Overview

If users can’t easily see which filters are applied, and can’t quickly deselect them, they will have to spend more time than necessary narrowing the product list to a suitable selection

If no overview of applied filters is displayed, users will lack the context of the product list. Users may unintentionally apply filters, and may then misunderstand the range and type of products available

Prioritization Spotlight

Every year after receiving the Baymard audit, my team and I work on inputting all recommendations into an excel document to clearly document each update and understand the impact of them as they relate to each other. For me it is essential to run each recommendation through a critical lens and see if it benefits the brand and how it plays with brand strategy.
